Guided Tours

Tuxon Ranch is thrilled to have prospective client tour the ranch! Located just 30 minutes from Durango, come visit our state-of-the-art facility on a guided tour for an opportunity to immerse yourself in the behind the scenes of an elite equine operation that ranges from birth to retirement. Please be aware that this is a working equine facility. Our tours are scheduled around the routines of our horses and employees and their safety is our number one priority. All tours must be scheduled in advance by calling 719.931.2558, there are no walk-up tours at this time.

Walk with us through our barns, where we will demonstrate the horsemanship and individual care programs specific to each horse at Tuxon. Our staff takes great pride in the care and overall health of our clients horses. From exercise routines to nutritional needs, we develop specific care programs for each horse. Our facility is designed to bring overall equine care to the next level, no matter if the horse is a full-time resident or a haul-in client.

Join us for an up close and hands on experience in our brand-new Rehabilitation Center. This is sure to spark the interest of any future vet or equine professional. Our staff partners closely with equine sports medicine veterinarians. We have advanced equipment onsite for our equine athletes, to ensure they maintain good health and are performing at their best. Owners take comfort knowing we do everything possible to ensure their horses’ success.

Come learn about our breeding program and performance horse prospects. Our program showcases selective breeding, promotes wonderful temperament, ideal conformation, and longevity in the performance pen. From Durango:
Take US-160 West out of town, crossing the Animas River.
Stay on US-160 West for approximately 10 miles.
Take a left onto CO Road 140, heading towards Hesperus.
Stay on CO Road 140 for approximately 20 miles.
You will drive through the small town of Kline (Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary will be on your left).
On the south side of Kilen, look for CO Road 130.
Take a left on CO Road 130.
Stay on CO Road 130 for 2 miles. Tuxon Ranch will be at the end of the road, on your right.
Take a right through the wooden archway and look for the parking signs.

From Cortez:
Take US-160 East out of town, towards Mancos.
Stay on US-160 East for approximately 30 miles.
Take a Right onto CO Road 140, heading towards Hesperus.
Stay on CO Road 140 for approximately 20 miles.
You will drive through the small town of Kline (Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary will be on your left).
On the south side of Kilen, look for CO Road 130.
Take a left on CO Road 130.
Stay on CO Road 130 for 2 miles. Tuxon Ranch will be at the end of the road, on your right.

From Farmington:
From US-64, head North on NM Road 170, towards Colorado.
Stay on NM Road 170 for approximately 35 miles.
You will pass through the Town of La Plata and cross over the Colorado border.
Continue through the town of Red Messa, heading towards Kline.
Just before you enter the town of Kilen, look for CO Road 130.
Take a right on CO Road 130.
Stay on CO Road 130 for 2 miles. Tuxon Ranch will be at the end of the road, on your right.
Take a right through the wooden archway and look for the parking signs.
